I was not able to leave a comment on your blog. This is what I had to say:

I ‘work with’ Mrs. Kolbert as a member of our Professional Learning Network, which is how I came to read your blog. I teach technology in a Middle/High School in Massachusetts.
This is a thoughtful essay. It is extremely well-written, as well.
What you are advocating is called 1:1 computing: one computer for each student and teacher. I think you have made well-reasoned argument to have 1:1 computing in your school.
