New Tools and Opportunities

I had an amazing experience this past weekend – I installed and used a Windows-based product that not only worked better than I could have hoped, but better than I could have dreamed. It’s called Camtasia Studio – http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp .

I am not, not, not shilling for them.

I wanted to create a recording to help the families in our school to become better acquainted with Virtual High school – http://www.govhs.org, in the hopes we could encourage more of our students to avail themselves of this wonderful resource. I recorded all of my moves around the Web site, with an accompanying narration, using an auto pan and zoom – that follows my mouse pointer.

I found this product with a search engine, downloaded it  for 30 day free trial. I prepared a presentation that passed muster with our principal – a 50 minute flash movie in 136 Mb. I can simultaneously (if I wish) render it for Website, CD, blog, and iPod. Camtasia takes care of the royalties. It was absolutely a dream. If you want to see it, it’s online at http://web.mac.com/skipzvt, click ‘VHS Visit’ in the menu, and follow the directions.
